Terms of Service
MeshMack is a product of O'Reilly Systems Corporation (“we,” “us,” “Company”).
These terms are a short, practical agreement for using MeshMack — not a substitute for advice from your own counsel.
Last updated: 17 September 2026.
1. Agreement
By downloading, installing, or using MeshMack (the “App”), you agree to these Terms and our Privacy summary. If you do not agree, do not use the App.
2. The App
MeshMack is hyper-local, peer-to-peer chat. Discovery and messages are designed to stay on your device and nearby peers. We do not operate a central chat server and do not host your conversations. Features may change as we improve the product.
3. Eligibility
You must be at least 18 years old (or the age of majority where you live). If you use the App on behalf of an organization, you confirm you have authority to bind that organization.
4. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Break the law or encourage others to do so
- Harass, threaten, stalk, defame, or exploit anyone; send unwanted spam or bulk messages
- Impersonate others, or misrepresent your identity or affiliation in a way meant to deceive
- Distribute malware, attempt unauthorized access to devices or networks, or disrupt MeshMack or nearby users’ devices
- Scrape, reverse engineer, or automate the App except as allowed by law
- Use MeshMack to collect personal data about others without a lawful basis, or for commercial advertising without consent
You are responsible for what you send and for how you use location, Bluetooth, and local-network features on your device.
5. Peer-to-peer reality
Nearby users may see that you are present and may exchange messages with you when both devices allow it. Content you share can be copied or forwarded by recipients. We cannot recall messages from other people’s phones. Block and report tools on-device are your first line of control; contact info@oreillysystems.com for safety or abuse concerns we can help with.
6. Purchases
Optional in-app purchases (such as Supporter) are billed by Apple or Google under their terms. Refunds follow the store’s policies. We do not receive your payment card number.
7. Intellectual property
The App, name, and branding are owned by O’Reilly Systems Corporation or its licensors. You get a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use MeshMack as provided. You keep rights in content you create; you grant other peers only what is needed for them to receive and display what you send.
8. Disclaimer
The App is provided “as is” and “as available.” To the fullest extent allowed by law, we disclaim warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not promise uninterrupted or error-free service, or that peer discovery will always succeed on every device or network.
9. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent allowed by law, O’Reilly Systems Corporation and its officers, directors, and employees are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for loss of data, profits, or goodwill, arising from your use of MeshMack.
Our total liability for any claim relating to the App is limited to the greater of (a) the amount you paid us for MeshMack in the 12 months before the claim, or (b) US $50. Some places do not allow certain limits; in those places our liability is limited to the maximum permitted by law.
10. Indemnity
You will defend and hold us harmless from claims arising out of your misuse of the App, your content, or your violation of these Terms or applicable law, to the extent allowed where you live.
11. Suspension
We may suspend or end access to company-operated features (for example, this website or purchase entitlement checks) if you violate these Terms. You may stop using MeshMack at any time by deleting the App.
12. Changes
We may update these Terms. The “Last updated” date will change when we do. Continued use after an update means you accept the revised Terms. Material changes may also be noted in the App or on meshmack.com.
13. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, USA, without regard to conflict-of-law rules, except where your local mandatory consumer laws require otherwise.
